The series Horses & Princes is created in 1998 as a cartoon stamped on packaging plastic, based on the text ‘Merkwaardige aanval’ (‘Remarkable attack’) by Paul van Ostaijen.

In 2012 I decided to cut this large piece of plastic into different canvases. By isolating the characters and giving them another background they have got a different autonomy. The characters I used are an ideogram for horse from antiquity and a Sumerian character for prince (‘nun’).
